The title track was recently featured on Jazz FM's Dinner Jazz... "Imogen's CD was passed on to me by a musician friend of mine who said 'You must hear this singer!' I get sent hundreds of CD's every week but (Imogen's) was really quite outstanding... captivating... a very, very lovely voice indeed." Sarah Ward - Jazz FM Costa Pilavachi, president of Decca Records heard the broadcast and said... "… I was driving with my wife listening to Jazz FM and suddenly we heard this very compelling, caressing voice which both of us knew we has never heard before. Although we had arrived home, we stayed in the car to listen hoping we would catch the singers name. Who was it? Of course it turned out to be your CD and thanks to that programme we met and now my wife and I are Imogen Ryall fans". Since her debut ages 17 at The Chichester Jazz Festival in 1985 (broadcast on Radio 2), Imogen has become a much-loved singer by audiences and musicians alike. She has toured extensively throughout the UK and has performed at venues including Ronnie Scott's, The Barbican Hall, the 606 Club and Pizza On The Park, London. She attended The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 1988 and was fortunate enough to study with and perform alongside such jazz luminaries as Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone and John Taylor (the latter describing her voice as, quite simply: "Beautiful"). Imogen has been a featured vocalist on numerous recordings including the award-winning Guildhall Jazz Band's CD 'Essence' (multiple winners of the BBC Big Band Competition); music for the BBC's 10x10 series and The French Tourist Board and on an adaptation of 'The Clouds' by Aristophanes with Tim Brooke-Taylor for BBC Talking Books. Last year, she appeared at the RSC's The Other Place in 'Apology For An Actor' in which she performed apiece especially composed for her by Guy Wolfendon. Imogen continues to perform regularly on the jazz circuit both in the UK and abroad and is currently promoting her latest CD EP: Alone Together with guitarist Andy Williams. |
